A (Address) records

Associates a domain name or subdomain name with the IPv4 address of the corresponding resource

AAAA (Address) records

Associate a domain name or subdomain name with the IPv6 address of the corresponding resource

Example

Mail server (MX) records

Route traffic to mail servers

CNAME records

Reroute traffic for one domain name to another domain name

Zone File

Often used for exporting DNS records. A zone file uses a standard format known as BIND to represent records in a text format.
